I have always enjoyed the ability to create. When I was younger I did this this through art. I think the first time I really thought about photography was when an acquaintance showed me how to adjust my white balance on my simple point and shoot camera. I was blown away at the difference it made. Immediately I was excited at the thought that I could control how the camera captures what I see and not long after, I bought my first DSLR. It wasn't a true DSLR mind you, rather a glorified point and shoot. I wasn't until my next camera, my legitimate first DSLR that I really started getting into photography.
The Nikon D90 was my learning camera. It was an excellent camera, and I would be happy with it still for a majority of photography tasks. The problem I started running into as I continued learning, was that there wasn't enough user control over the things I wanted to try. I needed more functions and 'in camera abilities' so I didn't have to do as much post-processing.
I now shoot with the Nikon D700. I have a few lenses, but the Lens I like most, and also shoot with most of the time is the AF-S Nikkor 24-70mm 2.8G ED. Love it!
Learning in this field is continuous, and I enjoy trying new things. I'm excited to see where my photography goes over the next few years.
Some of my interests include: Martial Arts, Ice Hockey, Snowboarding, Scuba Diving, Reading and Running. In 2014 I completed my first adventure race at Met Con Blue. I also enjoy watching movies and playing video games, even though I'm not very good at them.
I currently work full time in the Canadian Army. I joined the reserves in 1998, and transferred to the Regular Force in 2001. I have three deployments overseas, two in Afghansitan and the third in the Middle East.
